My children definitely like chocolate. But that is not the main reason they are greatly anticipating the four egg hunts they have planned this weekend. We are heading to Downey's Farm this afternoon along with a hundred other city kids for an egg hunt.
The joy is in lining up with a hundred other children at the starting line, the fun of the chase, of the searching, of beating other children to an egg, of the pure fun in running around picking up as many plastic eggs as you can, of the competition in it, of the laughter, of the mandatory rubber boots, of getting stuck in the mud, of enjoying their siblings, of helping their baby sister pick up a few eggs.
The fact they swap all those plastic eggs for a couple of chocolate treats after the hunt is a mere bonus. They would do it regardless.
