Give A Hand
Imagine losing your hand...and years later having a new one attached - a real one, not a prosthetic - that will be fairly functional within about 9 months.
The first successful hand transplant in Canada was completed yesterday. There is only a 3 to 5% chance of rejection, so it is likely the lady helped will have functionality within about 9 months of today. An American who received a hand transplant in 1999 is still going strong with his, having been able to hold hands with his kids and play catch with the new hand.
I marvel at some areas of medicine and the competencies we have developed in medical science over the years.
