As a child, I remember my best friend Kim's mom would warm fresh bread in the oven and when we would come in from playing in the crisp cold fall air, she would slather butter on it and we would wolf it down. It was fresh white bread and I can still taste it to this day.
It is not surprising then that my kids love bread and butter. I warm a french baguette in the oven for a few minutes, cut it in slices, and butter. The kids hoover it down. I keep aside enough of the baguette without butter for my husband, who prefers olive oil to butter. He is the odd man out because the five of us prefer butter.
