The Tuck Shop
As a kid, I loved tuck shops.
When I attended camp, it was always critically important that my parents provided an account for me at the Tuck Shop. Every day you needed candy. Convenience stores serve the same function for my children. Everything sweet and sticky at their level, all for mere cents as opposed to dollars.
We were out for a walk last night and I brought $5 with me. Partway through our walk, we stopped in at a general store. The baby got a red sucker; my daughter and youngest son bought between them 19 Dubble Bubble individually wrapped bubble gum with the jokes inside; and my eldest bought chocolate eggs. It cost $4.95. Everyone left happy and my husband was the beneficiary of some of the bubble gum.
Hooray for tuck shops.
