Jupiter
Looking up at the shining crescent moon last night made me wonder what else is out there in our milky way.
Yesterday I learned that Jupiter smashing into other celestial bodies may have created our unique solar system. Jupiter may have destroyed a first generation of inner planets, making our solar system completely different from the hundreds of others that have been found. The theory is that Jupiter's violence made our planetary system an oddball that was capable of supporting life.
Angelina Jolie wrote an article about how different she was as a child growing up. It made her uncomfortable until she realized that different is good.
As it relates to our solar system, I agree with her. Different is definitely good.
