Scared!
Scared...raccoon...scared...raccoon.
Apparently my toddler is now scared of raccoons. My youngest son is scared of sleeping in the bed without a barrier between him and the door. My oldest daughter is scared of going to the bathroom by herself. And my eldest son is scared of being in the basement by himself. Even I am still wary when I am watching TV in the house at night and everyone else is asleep.
Learning to overcome fear is a lifelong endeavour, and teaching children to overcome their fears is an incremental process as opposed to an aha event. Being scared is part of being human.
